Eagle cruised to an easy win Tuesday over Chris Berardi in the Republican primary. He will now face Democrat Arvella M. Clare in the general election Nov. 6.

Eagle, a real estate broker, won by an almost 3-1 margin, 72 percent to 28 percent.

“Obviously the polls speak for themselves. We did it through hard work and by staying positive, not negative,” Eagle said. “When we started in November we were 10 points behind.”

Among the many things District 77 candidates Chris Berardi and Dane Eagle have in common are their profession, they are Republicans, and they both want to serve Cape Coral in Tallahassee as state representatives.

But only one of them can win the Aug. 14 primary for the right to face Democrat Arvella Clare in the Nov. 6 election in a newly redistricted area that now almost exclusively covers Cape Coral.

There are some differences. One is a former Cape Coral city councilman, while the other worked as a deputy chief of staff for former Gov. Charlie Crist. One has managed big and small businesses in the Cape, while the other gained a foothold in state politics almost out of college before returning to help keep his family built business afloat after the real estate meltdown.

But they both believe they have what’s necessary to get the job done.

It is with great enthusiasm that Dane Eagle, Republican Candidate for the Florida House of Representatives in District 77, announced his first quarter fundraising for the New Year. In the first three months of 2012 the campaign has raised over $53,000.00, bringing the campaign total to more than $100,000.00.

“It is humbling to have the support of so many folks on so many levels contributing to the campaign,” stated Eagle, “Our momentum is growing everyday.”

This was another strong quarter for the Eagle campaign. The campaign received dollars from all over the state but obviously concentrated in Lee County. “And we have not been solely focused on raising money,” Eagle said, “we have been collecting the necessary petitions, attending events and going door to door.”

Some notable campaign contributors include Lee County Sheriff Mike Scott and NFL’s “Most Winningest Coach”, Don Shula, among many others.
